Random Acts of Kindness…

 

Funny how we never get dizzy from doing good turns…

 

This is a random list of random acts to inspire you to do something kind for another. I am sure you can add to this list.  Share this list with anyone and everyone.

 

1.      Bake goodies and take them to the police station, fire station, emergency room, etc.

2.      Volunteer at a local shelter, humane society, mission or food bank.

3.      Pay a teenager to mow someone’s yard, who is elderly, sick or their spouse is away.

4.      Serve food at a local shelter.  This is a great activity for families to do together.  It makes us grateful for what we take for granted.

5.      Volunteer at your local hospital or nursing home to do whatever they might need.

6.      Thank an unknown soldier for their contribution to protecting your country.

7.      Knit or crochet a baby’s blanket and take it to the hospital for the next baby that is born.

8.      Buy a meal for a homeless person.

9.      Buy a bouquet of flowers or balloons and deliver it to the hospital. The nurses will know who needs it the most.

10.       Print up inspiring signs and post them around your neighborhood or town.

11.       When someone compliments you on something you have, give it to them. 

12.       Take a box of doughnuts to a place where people volunteer.   

13.       Pay the toll for the car behind you

14.       Send your children to offer to wash cars for your neighbors for free. When they come home, you pay them.

15.       Give to Toys for tots or take a name from the wish list at the mall.  Buy, send or deliver the gift in time for the holiday.

16.       Pick up the litter along a road or a street in your town or neighborhood.

17.       Leave your change in the soda or vending machine for the next person.

18.       Write to places where you get great service and compliment them. 

19.       Smile at strangers everywhere you go.

20.       Let someone through in traffic, or stop for someone crossing the street.  

21.       Compliment someone on their attire, tie, or hairdo, but only if it is true. 

22.       Help a stranger load their groceries into their car.

23.       Offer to do an errand for someone else. 

24.       Bring donuts to the office or place of business next door to you.

25.       Write inspiring notes and then secretly deliver them to various places. Such as the windshields of cars, in library books, mailboxes, etc

26.       Help someone in need, such as changing tires, shoveling snow, etc.

27.       Cook a meal for parents of sick children or the parents of a new baby. 

28.       Clean up around the office or do the dishes in the office kitchen.

29.       Offer to baby sit or host a party for kids, so that their parents are free to go out for a few hours. 

30.       Organize a fundraiser for someone in need.

31.       Send a 'Thank you' card or note to your local fire or police station.

32.       Drop inspirational magazines or small books off in waiting rooms of hospitals or emergency rooms.

1.            Cut out a favorite comic, horoscope or picture and tape it to a friend or stranger's locker, car, door, office, etc. 

2.            Anonymously leave flowers on someone’s doorstep.

3.            Leave a balloon/or poster or just a silly note on a friends door when they are having a difficult day.

4.            Plant a tree, shrub or flowers in your community or church garden.

5.            Clean up your neighbor's yard/garden for free or mow their grass.

6.            Read to a blind person, a shut in or someone who is alone. 

7.            Volunteer to read to children at the library or a bookstore.

8.            Call an old friend for no reason at all.

9.            Smile! Laugh! Be happy and spread this cheerful attitude everywhere.

10.       Hug someone. A hug gives a gift to both people.

11.       Send a small gift to a friend or coworker as an “I like you” present.

12.       Listen to a friend, a co-worker or best yet, a total stranger with compassion.

13.       Bring a smile, a joke, a hug, or a kind word to someone at home or work.

14.       Leave that parking space up front, for someone else.

15.       Leave quarters on the public laundry machine for the next person.

16.       Send your child a note in his lunchbox.

17.       Slip a love note into a loved ones briefcase, purse or suitcase. 

18.       Pass on your videos, books or magazines to appropriate locations.

19.       Hold the door for someone or help someone cross the street.

20.       Leave a treat for a coworker with whom you don’t normally get along.

21.       Write, draw, make, or buy something encouraging for a friend or colleague who is experiencing difficulties.

22.       Pay for a small child's candy at a convenient store.

23.       Hold a teddy bear drive and donate teddy bears to police or fire departments for traumatized children.

24.       Provide a holiday meal and/or gifts for a family in need. 

25.       Do a chore that is normally someone else’s job.

26.       Smile when you pick up the phone, the caller will hear it in your voice.

27.       Pay for someone's gas.

28.       Teach your children about acts of kindness and do a project together.

29.       Pick up the bill for someone’s lunch.

30.       Pay a surprise visit to your parents or other relatives. 

31.       Donate a percentage of your income for one day to a charity or other group.

32.       Donate flowers to a meal delivery program to be delivered with the meals.

33.       Invite someone, new to your neighborhood or workplace, to lunch.

34.       Visit nursing homes or assisted living environments and spend some time with the residents.  Read to those who cannot see so well, play a card game, or just visit with them.  Some of them are very lonely.

35.       Give your seat on the bus or subway to someone who needs it….or not.

36.       Take up a collection to purchase items needed by a nonprofit organization.

37.       Teach one of your skills to someone. Learn a skill from him or her as well.

38.       Invite and pay for a hair stylist or manicurist as a gift to nursing home residents.

39.       Create bouquets of flowers in small containers and bring them to places like assisted living or a nursing home.

40.       Drive someone to an appointment, staying with them to drive them home.

41.       Organize a book drive to benefit children or senior citizens.

42.       Bring flowers, small gifts, or cheerful cards and distribute one to each resident of a retirement complex or nursing home.

43.       Create kindness cards or a small book with kindness quotes included to “pass on” with the idea that it is passed on to another for a kind act.  Inscribe the book or cards with something like “This act of kindness was performed especially for you. Please offer an act of kindness to someone else, and pass this card / book on to them.”
